Australiaβs Department of Home Affairs recently approved three new English language tests for immigration and visa purposes effective from 7 August 2025. The newly accepted tests are CELPIP General,LanguageCert Academic, and Michigan English Test (MET). The updated policy expands the list of accepted English tests from five to nine, offering more flexibility and consistency across providers. It also brought in revised minimum score thresholds across all tests (including older ones like IELTS, PTE Academic, OET, TOEFL iBT, and C1 Advanced) to better align with Australia's visa proficiency levels The changes do not apply to online or at-home versions of tests (e.g., MET Digital, IELTS Online, CELPIP Online), which remain unacceptable for visa applications.
